১৯৩৬ সালে সিলেটে জন্ম নেওয়া সাজেদা চৌধুরী তরুণ বয়সেই রাজনীতিতে জড়িয়ে পড়েন। ভাষা আন্দোলনে তাঁর অংশগ্রহণ ছিল, ছাত্র রাজনীতিতে ছিলেন সক্রিয়। ১৯৭১ সালে মুক্তিযুদ্ধের সময় তিনি মুক্তিযোদ্ধাদের সংগঠিত করতে, শরণার্থীদের সাহায্য করতে গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করেন।
স্বাধীনতার পর তিনি আওয়ামী লীগের কেন্দ্রীয় নেতৃত্বে উঠে আসেন। বহুবার জাতীয় সংসদ সদস্য নির্বাচিত হন, মন্ত্রিত্ব করেন, এবং জাতীয় সংসদের উপনেতার গুরুত্বপূর্ণ দায়িত্ব পালন করেন। সংসদে তাঁর উপস্থিতি ছিল শক্তিশালী — তিনি ছিলেন অভিজ্ঞ, পরিণত এবং প্রতিপক্ষের কাছেও শ্রদ্ধেয়।

For more than sixty years, she was active in Bangladesh's politics — from the Language Movement to the Liberation War, from anti-military movements to the restoration of democracy — she was present at every important chapter.
Born in 1936 in Sylhet, Sajeda Chowdhury entered politics at a young age. She participated in the Language Movement and was active in student politics. During the Liberation War of 1971, she played a crucial role in organizing freedom fighters and helping refugees.
After independence, she rose to the central leadership of the Awami League. She was elected to the National Parliament multiple times, served as a minister, and held the important position of Deputy Leader of Parliament. Her presence in Parliament was powerful — she was experienced, mature, and respected even by political opponents.
Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury belonged to a generation of politicians who viewed politics as service to the nation. Her long political career proved that women can not only enter politics — they can stay, lead, and serve for decade after decade.
