১৯৪০ সালের ৫ নভেম্বর যশোরে জন্ম নেওয়া আনোয়ারা ঢাকা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় থেকে বাংলায় স্নাতকোত্তর করেন এবং পরে সেখানেই অধ্যাপনা শুরু করেন। শ্রেণিকক্ষে তিনি ছিলেন জনপ্রিয় — তাঁর পড়ানোর ধরন ছিল প্রাণবন্ত, আন্তরিক, ছাত্রছাত্রীদের সাথে তাঁর সম্পর্ক ছিল উষ্ণ। কিন্তু ক্লাসরুমের বাইরে তাঁর আরেকটি পৃথিবী ছিল — সাহিত্যের পৃথিবী।

Born on November 5, 1940, in Jessore, Anwara completed her master's in Bangla from Dhaka University and later began teaching there.
